Local Mah Jongg enthusiasts offering classes in Murrells Inlet

February 9, 2026

Michelle Burton and  Michele Zucker of the Mah Jongg Connection in Pawleys Island are teaching Introductory Mah Jongg classes at the Murrells Inlet Community Center to help individuals interested in learning how to play the popular tile game. The first class scheduled for Wednesday, February 25 has already filled up so they have added two more classes – one on March 3 and and another on March 5.

The hands-on course begins at noon and last three hours, offering participants guidance to build skills and confidence as they learn to play the popular game, which started in 19th century China and is now played throughout the world.

The two partners have played Mah Jongg for a combined 70 years and have plans to start offering tournaments in the area soon. Burton says no experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided to particpants.

The cost of the class is $40 and pre-registration is required. To register, contact Burton by email or by phone: 803-767-6872
