Locally Epic helps welcome Furman freshman

August 17, 2017

Locally Epic and Furman University hope to donate more than 600 T-shirts to Goodwill Industries of the Upstate as part of a special promotion Friday night.

The T-Shirt Exchange presented by Furman Athletics/Furman Marketing allows incoming Furman freshman to bring in a T-shirt and exchange it for a T-shirt from Locally Epic, which is a new app that allows local consumers via a mobile platform that allows them to enhance their ability to find local offers and promotions from a wide range of businesses in real time, while allowing businesses to effectively reach new audiences.

The event is part of the Freshman Orientation Soccer game, which is being held Friday, August 18th at 7 p.m. at Stone Soccer Stadium. The annual game is mandatory for incoming freshman and they are being asked to bring a shirt with another school (high school or college) logo on it. The collected shirts will be donated to Goodwill, which is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping people become independent through education and training leading to employment.

Locally Epic will have a table set up in the stadium to give out information about the app and its CEO Chase Michaels will speak to the more than 600 students at halftime about what Locally Epic does.

“We are excited to be talking to so many new students – many of whom are new to the Greenville area,” Michaels said. “We want to help introduce them to why this area is Locally Epic and how they can help keep it that way.”
