Lullabies~An Evening of Music for Cello and Organ

June 8, 2021

Westminster Presbyterian Church is pleased to present our next concert, “Lullabies, a Concert of Music with Organ and Cello” in our sanctuary on Saturday, June 26, at 7:00 pm. Come away from the stress of the world and spend an evening with friends at this soul-soothing concert.

Cellist Jonathan Simmons is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma in Cello Performance at Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music. At Schwob he serves as graduate assistant for Orchestral Activities and studies with Wendy Warner. He holds a MM from the Schwob School of music and a BMus from Bob Jones University, summa cum laude, studying with Dr. Yuriy Leonovich. While at BJU he served as co-principal cellist of the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra and was twice awarded the William McEver String Scholarship.

A native of Kathleen, GA, Catie Moyer fell in love with the sound of the organ before she could even read music. After enduring piano long enough to learn the notes, she began formal organ study in 2003 with Gerald Carper at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Macon, GA. She went on to graduate from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC in 2011 with a BMus in Church Music studying with Dr. Ed Dunbar. She has also studied with Bob Glick, formerly of Erskine College. She has served as organist and choir director at Westminster since July, 2020.

This concert free and there is ample room for social distancing.
