Executive Chef, Tim Morton Will Direct all Creative Culinary for both The Ryder Hotel and Emeline

Makeready, the hospitality company that concepts, manages and operates a diverse collection of brands, hotels and independent restaurants in Charleston, has announced Chef Tim Morton of Makeready’s Frannie & The Fox as the new executive chef at The Ryder Hotel. Chef Tim will now serve as executive chef of both The Ryder and Emeline, executing the flavor-forward, thoughtful culinary programs at both Makeready properties, which are home to restaurants Little Palm and Frannie & the Fox.

“Chef Tim’s leadership at Emeline has been invaluable,” says Adam Jimenez, General Manager, Food and Beverage of Emeline and The Ryder Hotel. “He brings his understanding of the Makeready vision and the Charleston hospitality scene to The Ryder, driving a flavorful, tropical, fresh menu that perfectly complements the restaurant’s cocktail driven concept and poolside location.”

With Makeready’s commitment to offering unique experiences that are locally curated with the city in mind, Chef Tim has created the Little Palm menu to focus on fresh, flavor-forward ingredients. A combination of fresh seafood, shareable plates and seasonal dishes, the menu reflects the restaurant’s airy, laidback atmosphere and the artfully crafted cocktail menu. Menu highlights include Tuna Poke with scallion and sesame, Fried Chicken Skewers with sweet chili and garlic soy, and Hangar Steak Frites with cilantro chimichurri.

Since 2020, Chef Tim has built and led the team at award-winning Frannie & The Fox, where his menu continues to delight guests, and has created a strong following of locals with its wood-fired eatery. The restaurant’s open-air dining room is inspired by Charleston’s captivating landscape.

Chef Tim has called Charleston home for the past five years. He led the opening of Mercantile and Mash in Charleston as executive chef before joining the team at Emeline. A Minnesota native, Tim fell in love with working behind a busy kitchen at the age of 16. He developed an appreciation for hospitality, specifically creating special moments for guests in an atmosphere that makes them feel at home. Tim earned his 20-year skillset by working with Forbes Five Star rated hotels and restaurants. His dynamic background being mentored by some of the most notable chefs has shaped his vision as he now oversees two culinary programs in Makeready’s Charleston collection.
