Make-A-Wish® South Carolina grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. We believe a wish can be a game-changer in the life of a wish kid, providing transformative experiences that allow wish kids to anticipate something positive and empowering in their lives. Make-A-Wish South Carolina granted 180 wishes last year, averaging to a wish every forty-eight hours. The chapter receives funding through private donations, individuals, companies and special events. Magnolia has been selected as one of “America’s Most Beautiful Gardens” by Travel and Leisure magazine. It is the only garden honored with this distinction in South Carolina. Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of the United States unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens.
