Manufacturing Madness Returns to the Upstate
March 1, 2026South Carolina’s annual Manufacturing Madness competition is back, and this year the public once again has the chance to help decide which company comes out on top.
The statewide initiative shines a spotlight on the manufacturing industry while inviting residents to participate in a bracket-style voting competition. Modeled after the excitement of March tournaments, manufacturers from across the state go head-to-head, advancing based on online votes from the public.

More Than a Competition
While the bracket brings friendly competition, the bigger goal is awareness.
Manufacturing remains one of South Carolina’s largest economic engines, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs and driving billions in economic impact. From advanced automotive and aerospace production to food processing, materials, and precision fabrication, the industry plays a major role in the Upstate’s continued growth.
Communities across the Golden Strip — including Fountain Inn, Simpsonville, and Mauldin — are closely tied to manufacturing expansion. Local plants provide high-paying technical jobs, invest in infrastructure, and contribute to workforce development efforts in area schools.
Engaging the Next Generation
Manufacturing Madness also emphasizes student engagement. Schools across the state participate in activities and challenges designed to connect young people with real-world career pathways in advanced manufacturing.
Organizers say the initiative helps reshape outdated perceptions of factory work. Today’s facilities are increasingly automated, technology-driven, and reliant on skilled workers trained in robotics, data systems, and engineering.
A Chance to Rally Behind Local Industry
The public voting component gives communities an opportunity to support the companies that operate in their own backyard. Each round narrows the field until one manufacturer is crowned the winner.
For Golden Strip residents, it’s a chance to highlight the businesses that help power the local economy and create opportunity across the region.
Voting is open online and continues through multiple rounds, with matchups updated as companies advance.

Manufacturing Madness proves that industry isn’t just about production lines — it’s about people, innovation, and the communities that stand behind them.
