Annual Signature Chefs Auction offers an evening of giving

COLUMBIA, SC – The March of Dime is pleased to announce the 2014 Midlands Signature Chefs Auction. The event—which highlights the culinary excellence of the area’s finest chefs, will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 6 p.m. at the Columbia Marriott.  This year’s event is chaired by Cathy Novinger, CEO, Novinger QTR, Consulting. Lead Chef for the event is Blake Faries, of Saluda’s restaurant.

The evening will begin with generous samplings of each chef’s signature dish. During this cocktail and sampling reception, guests have the opportunity to bid on silent auction packages. The highlight of the evening is the live auction, when the participating restaurants and chefs donate unique dining, travel and entertainment packages that are auctioned to the highest bidder. To date participating chefs and restaurants include: Saluda’s, The Oak Table, Ristorante Divino, il Giorgione Pizzeria & Wine Bar, Basil Thai, Blue Marlin, and Brookland Baptist Banquet & Conference Center, Let Them Eat Cake, Charleston Cooks! And Rosso Trattoria Italia.

“No parent should have to experience the heart-wrenching journey that happens when a baby is born prematurely,” said Sarah Travis, Community Director for the March of Dimes   “That’s why we’re honored to have our participating restaurants, sponsors, donors and event guests to help the March of Dimes continue working so more parents can know the joy of a healthy baby.”

There is still availability to participate in the event. Interested sponsors or donors should contact the March of Dimes at 803-403-8521.

Event sponsors include: SCE&G, Columbia Eye Clinic, CSX, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, TD Bank, JT’s Kia, The State Media Group, Nash 98.5 FM, and Columbia Living Magazine.

Each year, the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes invests in mission initiatives statewide, including research grants and local community programs.
