MarineMax Charleston announces new general manager Karl Anderson after Bruce Bellknap retires after 24 years.
Karl is a native Texan, having grown up boating on the lakes outside of Dallas before heading to Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, for his educational pursuits. While at Appalachian State, he earned his BA and MBA degrees and was a linebacker for the football team. He began his professional career as the Appalachian State Lead Academic Coordinator for their men’s football and women’s basketball programs.
Karl and his wife, Kaylyn, were looking for warmer weather, which led them to Charleston in 2017, where Karl joined MarineMax. As a sales consultant, Karl quickly mastered his new role and was a top producer in 2021 – 2023 while also receiving the MarineMax FANS Customer Service Award in 2019.
Karl Anderson comments, “I could not be more excited to step into a leadership role with the team we have in Charleston. I feel humbled by the opportunity and feel it’s a testament to the mentorship I’ve received from our previous management team in Bruce Bellknap, Rick and Jeff Hall, and Jason Lindsey. Since my arrival six years ago, the team has welcomed me with open arms and invested heavily in my growth and development. I’m eager to pay that forward with our current team as we continue to grow and improve our sales and service departments.”
