Mary Black Foundation and United Way of the Piedmont partner for COVID-19 Response

April 16, 2020

Mary Black Foundation and United Way of the Piedmont announced a new partnership to raise funds for United Way’s COVID-19 relief efforts. Mary Black Foundation has committed $25,000 as a matching grant to United Way’s United for All Fund.

The United for All Fund is a disaster relief fund that has been activated in response to COVID-19. The fund directly supports individuals and families in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties through United Way’s Community Resource Coordinator program. Funds can also be used to support other community partners who are significantly involved in relief efforts. Funds are primarily used to support families who have lost wages due to COVID-19 with expenses like rent/mortgage, utilities, and food.

“The health and wellness of individuals, families, and our community are at risk due to COVID-19 and we are honored to partner with the United Way of the Piedmont to offer immediate support to people who are suffering the most right now. Helping our community through the United for All Fund is one way that we and others can make a difference,” said Molly Talbot-Metz, President & CEO of the Mary Black Foundation.

Mary Black Foundation’s matching grant will allow donors to double their impact. For every dollar that an individual donor gives, Mary Black Foundation will match that gift, up to $25,000. Paige Stephenson, United Way of the Piedmont President & CEO, says “We are so excited about this opportunity with Mary Black Foundation to not only support United Way’s fundraising efforts, but to raise awareness for the needs we are seeing every day in our community. We know this is just the beginning of the effects of COVID-19, and we are grateful for partners like Mary Black Foundation who, with us, are united in helping families recover.”
