Mary Black Foundation Elects Trustee
June 15, 2015SPARTANBURG, SC – The Mary Black Foundation has announced the election of Karen Calhoun to a four-year term as a Trustee beginning July 1.
Karen Calhoun holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Converse College. Mrs. Calhoun is Business Development Director for McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture. She joined the firm in 1999 and oversees business development and marketing initiatives, identifying potential client needs and the appropriate strategic response to meet them. With almost twenty years of experience, she has guided the successful geographic and market sector expansion of six studios and multiple office locations.
In addition to her professional work, Mrs. Calhoun is an active participant in state and regional economic development organizations and serves on numerous community boards such as: BCI Lending, United Way of the Piedmont, Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, University of South Carolina Upstate Foundation, Salvation Army, South Carolina Economic Development Association, Urban Land Institute, and Leadership South Carolina.
Mrs. Calhoun has been recognized for her commitment to her community. She received an award from the Carolina Piedmont Foundation for Distinguished Service to the Community in 2008 and she was named Volunteer of the Year in 2012 by the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
