Mayor Benjamin’s Columbia College class to host school’s first Columbia College + Community event – April 30

April 25, 2018

Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin’s “CC in the City: The Impact of the North Main Redevelopment” class at Columbia College will host the school’s first College + Community event with a food truck and dance celebration from 5-7:30 p.m. on April 30 at Columbia College.

“Ben Rex, Ari Robbins and I have worked with this talented, bright group of students since the beginning of the year, and we’re excited to see the fruits of their labor after they’ve designed and birthed a unique event celebrating the College and surrounding community,” said Mayor Benjamin.

Coined “Communiversity,” the concept of combining the community and university stems from the College’s vision outlined in 2017 to establish a campus that meets the needs of the community. The food truck and dance festival will feature local food trucks and high school dance teams.

Mayor Benjamin’s class is comprised of current undergraduate and graduate students at Columbia College. The students collaborated to bring about the event on April 30 after spending the semester learning about the city and its inner workings.
