Mayor Benjamin and City Council release statement on Confederate Flag removal

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and the members of City Council released the following statement today following Governor Nikki Haley’s news conference calling for the Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America’s removal from the Statehouse grounds:
“On behalf of the people of Columbia, we thank the Governor and everyone who took part in today’s announcement for their leadership. Now it’s up to all of us to call our state legislators and tell them it’s time to act.”
