Mayor Riley to Welcome Two New Businesses to King Street Friday
May 4, 2011CHARLESTON, SC – May 3, 2011 – Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. will welcome two new businesses to King Street, Reinert LePrince Fine Art and Salt & Seaweed, with ribbon cutting ceremonies Friday, May 6 beginning at 5:00 PM.
Reinert LePrince Fine Art
At 5:00 PM, Reinert LePrince Fine Art at 179 King Street will celebrate with nationally-acclaimed artist Rick Reinert presenting a special painting to Mayor Riley for the occasion. Hors d’voeurs will be prepared by Charleston’s 5-Star restaurant, the Woodlands, where Reinert has served as the Artist in Residence.
Reinert LePrince Fine Art is both an art gallery and a working studio for artists Reinert and Kevin LePrince. Recently Reinert’s painting, Ships of the Heartland, was chosen as a top 100 winner in the Paint America competition. Among several other accolades, Reinert was a featured artist in the Southeast Wildlife Exposition in Charleston and in the Gadsden Museum of Art Southeastern Plein Air Festival in Gadsden, AL.
Kevin LePrince’s bold brush strokes, and limited but vibrant palette, make his work recognizable to his many collectors. His equine works are displayed in the Ocean Room inside Kiawah’s 5-Star Sanctuary Hotel and his dramatic landscapes hang in the grand entrance at Hilton Head’s Wexford Plantation House.
Salt & Seaweed
The second grand opening event (approx. 5:30 PM) is at Salt & Seaweed, just off King at 155 Market. Founded by local fashion entrepreneur Jesse Nersesian, Salt & Seaweed is a casual women’s fashion boutique combining the lifestyles of the sand and the city. A true lifestyle shop, Salt & Seaweed carries hard-to-find brands favored by celebrities, those in the know, and those who simply follow the sun and surf.
Part beach, part city, part gypsy, says Ms. Nersesian. It’s a laid-back shop to browse in peace, and find that cute dress to take you from the beach to happy hour. Light hors d’voeurs and beverages will be served.
