MEDcare Urgent Care Goes Back to School

May 6, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – MEDcare Urgent Care, a physician-directed and privately-owned healthcare provider in South Carolina, hosted financial speaker and former international corporate tax manager for The Seagram Company, Ltd., Joseph Giordano. The four day seminar was hosted at MEDcare University; MEDcare Urgent Care’s state-of-the-art training facility in Columbia, SC. Attendees of Mr. Giordano’s seminar included the executive leadership and clinical management team from MEDcare’s seven urgent care centers.

“The fourth MEDcare core value is a commitment to ‘learn, grow, improve and repeat,’” states Dr. Joseph Pawlik, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of MEDcare Urgent Care. “Financial management, in both our personal and business lives, is key to successfully running a family, managing an urgent care clinic or leading a health care corporation. MEDcare believes in a continual investment into our employees, to better them as people and health care professionals.”

Mr. Giordano covered a variety of topics including the definition of assets and liabilities, cash flow analysis, understanding a balance sheet, and analyzing real-world, decision-making financial scenarios for optimizing clinic management. “I had no idea what to expect, short of knowing we would be attending an eight hour financial seminar over four days,” recalls Piper Moore, clinic manager for MEDcare Urgent Care in West Columbia. “Joe was a true delight, and there was never a dull moment. He managed to keep a room of 20 people highly entertained and engaged, while simplifying the basic concepts of accounting and financial management into real-life scenarios. I walked away from the course with a better understanding of accounting terminology and how to truly dissect my monthly financial reports. Joe was AWESOME!”

Dr. Radwan Hallaba, CEO and Co-Founder of MEDcare Urgent Care added, “Joe was both effective and entertaining, and immediately connected with our management team on both a personal and professional level. In my experience, many speakers do a good job of sharing information, but ultimately lose the attention of the audience in a multi-day seminar. By creating real-life scenarios for our managers, Joe was able to highlight the importance understanding the financial implications in the clinical environment, which ultimately translates in MEDcare Urgent Care’s ability to deliver a world-class health care experience.”
