Meghan Hughes, Executive Director of EngenuitySC, named one of 12 Influential Women in Business by Columbia Regional Business Report

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Regional Business Report has named Meghan Hughes, Executive Director of EngenuitySC, one of twelve Influential Women in Business for 2014. As the leader of the public-private partnership, Hughes oversees EngenuitySC’s ongoing competitiveness mission with projects in alternative energy, community livability and K-12 STEM education, as well as community outreach events like the monthly Science Café series.

The twelve recipients of the award were chosen by a panel of judges from a roster of nominees in one of four categories: Business Owner/CEO, Executive, Rising Star, and Volunteer. Three honorees were selected for each category. Columbia Regional Business Report selected Hughes as a Rising Star for her extraordinary professionalism and demonstration of leadership in her career and community service.

Hughes was promoted from Senior Project Manager to Executive Director of EngenuitySC in March of 2014. In partnership with her team, she oversees all competitiveness initiatives including the implementation of innovative STEM programming at both Lower Richland High School and within Richland School District Two; presenting Science Café in partnership with the SmartState program; managing the Fuel Cell Collaborative and NuHub; and producing the Midlands Regional Competitiveness Report and the annual Ignite! celebration.

The twelve award winners will be honored at Columbia Regional Business Report’sInfluential Women in Business luncheon on August 14, 2014, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the DoubleTree Columbia hotel, featuring keynote speaker Kim Wilkerson, President of Bank of America South Carolina.
