Mellow Mushroom downtown Charleston celebrates 15 years

February 10, 2016

The Mellow Mushroom in Downtown Charleston, known for its gourmet pizza and extensive craft beer selection, turned fifteen years old in January.  To show love to the community, they’ve planned a party this Saturday, February 13th from 10pm – 1am.  The epic celebration titled 2001: A Pizza Odyssey, is open to the public and will include a DJ, laser light show, ice luge, late night slices and drinks specials from partners Fireball and Samuel Adams. Guests are encouraged to wear their most out-of-this-world costume to win the $100 Grand Prize costume contest.  For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1695538387330203/

Located at 309 King Street, the Downtown location was the first Mellow Mushroom built in the Charleston area by owners Michael Shemtov, Johnny Hudgins and Joshua Broome.  Since 2001, the King Street staple has grown into a melting pot of College of Charleston students, young professionals, beer connoisseurs and tourists.  Seeing the success of Mellow Downtown, the owners opened additional locations in Avondale, Summerville and are currently building their fourth franchise in North Charleston across from the Tanger Outlets.
