Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. welcomes new members to its Board of Directors

The Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. (MIRCI), a nonprofit, established in 1960, has elected three new Directors to the Board for 2019-2021.

Shayla Merritt, Associate/Marketing and Communications Manager for Stevens and Wilkinson; Samantha (Sam) Skeeter, Director of Marketing and Innovation for the South Carolina Department of Revenue; and Brad Shell, with Peach Properties. Merritt and Skeeter will serve on the Marketing Committee to assist with further developing MIRCI’s marketing and brand efforts. Shell will join the Finance Committee.

“MIRCI’s Board of Directors continues to be progressive and strives to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our community,” said MIRCI’s Executive Director Julie Ann Avin. “Our Board is comprised of people with different areas of experience and expertise who guide the agency’s efforts to assist individuals, families with children, and unaccompanied youth in the midlands who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and mental illness.”

Other board members include our executive committee: Geoffrey Williams, Chair; Ronny Burkett, Vice-Chair; Shannon Tallent, Immediate Past Chair; along with other members of the Board, Woody Moore, Bill Tindall, Debbie Hamm, Ted Pitts, and Patricia Hartis.
