Mex 1 Coastal Cantina marks Veterans Day with free meals, expands ongoing support for Warrior Surf Foundation

Mex 1 Coastal Cantina will honor Lowcountry veterans this Veterans Day with a complimentary meal for all veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at each of its Charleston-area locations.

The offer is part of a broader, year-round commitment by the local restaurant group to support military veterans and their families. In partnership with the Folly Beach-based Warrior Surf Foundation — which provides surf therapy, yoga, and wellness programs for veterans coping with PTSD and other service-related challenges — Mex 1 donates $1 from every Pineapple Margarita sold to fund the nonprofit’s 12-week therapy program.

Mex 1 has raised over $40,000 for Warrior Surf Foundation through this partnership, and $6,500 so far this year. These donations allow the organization to take groups of veterans on weeklong surf, yoga, and wellness retreats to Costa Rica. This year’s trip, Mex 1’s 5th annual retreat with WSF, was captured in a short film that will premiere at Firefly Distillery on Thursday, November 20th from 6–8PM. This Waves That Heal, Stories That Matter – A WSF x Mex 1 Film Event is open to the public and will offer food from Mex 1 Coastal Cantina, a Warrior Surf Foundation merch shop, and a 50/50 raffle, all to support WSF’s mission.

Mex 1 West Ashley is open daily at 11am at 817 St Andrews Blvd. Its Sullivan’s Island location at 2205 Middle St is open at 12pm Mondays through Thursdays during the winter season, and 11am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays year round.
