Michael Thompson appointed as SCSBA Region 14 Director

Michael Thompson, a member of the District Five Schools of Spartanburg County Board of Trustees, was appointed to the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) Board of Directors as the Region 14 Director. Region 14 serves Spartanburg school districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Appointments are made to fill vacancies in the SCSBA Board until the next Delegate Assembly, where the seat will be open for nominations. The Delegate Assembly is scheduled for the first weekend in December in Charleston.
Thompson has served on the Spartanburg Five board for 7 years.
He serves as the Sales/Customer Service Manager at SEW Eurodrive, Inc. in Lyman. He and his wife, Gwen, have two adult children who both graduated from Byrnes High School. They also have seven grandchildren.
Thompson graduated from Byrnes in 1975 and is still involved at his alma mater. He has been a part of the school’s mentoring program for more than 10 years.
The South Carolina School Boards Association is a non-profit organization serving as a source of information and a statewide voice for boards governing the 81 school districts.
