Midlands families receive holiday food baskets and gifts from SCE&G

December 12, 2017

SCE&G employees and retirees will fill and deliver 400 food baskets to low-income, pre-identified families in the Midlands as part of the company’s employee-funded annual Good Neighbor Fund (GNF) Christmas Project. Toys will also be provided for families with children ages 14 and younger. Company-wide, employees will prepare and distribute 950 baskets to families in South Carolina and North Carolina.

The GNF is a nonprofit organization run by SCE&G employees that provides financial assistance to families in need facing unexpected tragedies or emergencies. The Christmas project is the culmination of a year of ongoing activities sponsored by the GNF through donations from the company’s employees and retirees. Since 1983, the GNF has assisted more than 12,000 families with donations of more than $4.5 million. More than 19,200 baskets have been delivered in South Carolina. One hundred percent of all donations go directly to helping families in need.
