Midlands organizations partner to honor and assist homeless Veterans

COLUMBIA, SC  – United Way of the Midlands, Dorn VA Medical Center (VA) and Transitions will host SC Stand Down, an event to honor homeless Veterans, on Friday, Nov. 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Transitions, located at 2025 Main Street.

 

The event will provide critical services to the homeless including food and shelter, health screenings and counseling.
“It is our duty to help those in need, especially our men and women who served in the armed forces,” said Mac Bennett, President and CEO of the United Way of the Midlands. “With Veterans Day approaching, United Way is proud to partner for this event as we work to end Veteran homeless in our community.”
The event is free and open to anyone who has served in the armed forces. Those who cannot attend but are in need of services can call the Dorn VA Medical Center at 803-776-4000 ext. 4415.
