Midlands Technical College Presidential Search Down to Three Finalists
September 22, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – In the final steps of a nationwide search for the next president of Midlands Technical College, three finalists will visit the college in October for meetings with students, faculty, staff and community leaders. The candidates are:
- Dr. Anthony Kinkel, President of Wichita Area Technical College
- Dr. Ronald Rhames, Senior Vice President of Midlands Technical College
- Dr. Walt Tobin, President of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College
The finalists were recommended by a Presidential Search Committee to the college’s Board of Trustees as part of the search to replace retiring president Dr. Marshall (Sonny) White, Jr.
White announced last year he would step down in February 2015 after more than eight years as president.
“The Search Committee was very impressed by these three, highly qualified candidates,” said MTC Commission Chair and Presidential Search Committee member Randall (Mack) Jackson. “We are looking forward to introducing the finalists to the college and community for their valuable input into this important process.”
The search committee has arranged for the candidates to meet with the college’s Commission, the MTC Foundation Board, faculty, staff,community leaders and students.
The successful candidate will be the sixth president of the college
