Spartanburg-based associates fund gift to United Way of the Piedmont through Milliken Gives

Milliken, a diversified global manufacturing company with innovations across a breadth of markets, announced it will donate more than $325,000 to the United Way of the Piedmont. As part of the company’s annual campaign, Milliken Gives, this community-centric gift was made possible through the charitable contribution of associates at the company’s headquarters in Spartanburg with a matching gift from the Milliken Foundation.

Milliken Gives was launched in the spring to create a legacy of support and engagement within the various communities the Milliken family of companies calls home. A three-pronged program, Milliken Gives looks to foster the already-present Milliken spirit of giving in these ways: by enabling each manufacturing facility to support a chosen nonprofit with a gift from the Milliken Foundation, establishing a Volunteer Participation System to encourage community service, and hosting a corporate headquarters giving campaign, which made this donation to United Way of the Piedmont possible.

“We believe our success in business and the success of our communities are inseparable, so to see Milliken Gives embraced by our associates is a heartening affirmation,” shares J. Harold Chandler, CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of Milliken & Company. “At Milliken, the desire to make a difference permeates every facet of our company – from thoughtful innovations to sustainable manufacturing to supporting our local communities. I am humbled by the meaningful generosity of our associates as we strive to impact the future for generations to come.”

Milliken’s community mindedness is an integral facet of the company’s core values. By aligning with local organizations, such as the United Way of the Piedmont, Milliken channels this value by supporting those on the forefront of community change.

“To have a dedicated partner like Milliken makes a huge impact in our ability to uphold our mission,” says Paige Stephenson, United Way of the Piedmont President. “We work everyday to connect, engage and inspire people to transform our community, and over the years, Milliken’s ongoing financial and volunteer support has enabled great strides towards providing opportunity for all in our community to not just survive, but to thrive.”
