Monday is the deadline to purchase tickets for the 2012 Citadel School of Education’s Wall of Fame event

CHARLESTON, SC – Three Dorchester County educators, includingSummerville’s legendary high school football coach John McKissick, willbe inducted Sept. 20 in The Citadel School of Education Wall of Fame.

Created in 2007, the Wall of Fame honors those who have distinguishedthemselves as outstanding educators or champions of education.

Monday is the deadline to purchase tickets to the event.

The 5th annual School of Education Wall of Fame banquet begins at 6 p.m.on Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Charleston Marriott Hotel, 170 LockwoodBlvd. The awards banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $50 a personand can be purchased by calling Julie Bender at 843-953-5097.

The 2012 inductees are: Dorchester County District 2 SuperintendentJoseph R. Pye, the 2012 South Carolina Superintendent of the Year SeanAlford, Citadel Class of 1992, the new assistant superintendent ofcurriculum and instruction for Dorchester District 2. John McKissick,the legendary coach of the Summerville High School Green Wave.

In addition, the School of Education will honor its second STEM Educatorof the Year. This year’s recipient is Margaret Spigner of West AshleyHigh School.

“The accomplishments of the 2012 Wall of Fame honorees illustrate theSchool of Education’s leadership and support of The Citadel’s strategicinitiative to provide outreach to the region and to serve as a resourcein its economic development,” said Tony Johnson, dean of The CitadelSchool of Education.
