Monthly open mic night provides platform for local musicians and performers, while raising money for a good cause

Exquisite Enterprises Inc. presents, Exquisite Open Mic nights, taking place every last Wednesday of the month at Events by Benita, 3620 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, SC starting at 7pm. January 31^st is the first open mic gathering of the year hosted by the organization and they are hoping to create a consistent platform for musicians and performers in the Lowcountry to perform, perfect their craft, and network.

Each month, the event will feature two local artists, with an open mic for all other artists prior for all other performers. The event is also a fundraiser for Exquisite Enterprises Inc’s Exquisite Students Scholarship Endowment Fund. All monies raised, from the $5 door admission, go to the scholarship fund, and to continue the open mic nights each month. The organization recently partnered with the Coastal Community Foundation to create the scholarship for students pursuing a degree in Journalism or Communications.

“I’m a firm believer in the importance of higher education. Going to college changed my life. The things I learned and experienced, you can’t get anywhere else. With this scholarship, I hope that we can overall encourage more students to go to college, but specifically usher in a new generation into the Journalism/Communications industry,” said Kimberly Bowman, owner of Exquisite Enterprises Inc. “The local music scene is huge here in Charleston and surrounding areas, if we can help push those people through this event, for a good cause, then I happy, no matter how much we raise.”
