Mumford Industries Inc. upgrades increase plastic recycling / reprocessing capacity

Mumford Industries Inc. a recycler and reprocessor of industrial plastic scrap recently completed phase 2 of their 2019 upgrades by installing an enhanced metal detection system to further improve their ability to remove metals from plastics processed in the facility.

“This will allow us to provide a cleaner more consistent product to our end-users as well as manufacturers who reuse their own materials in production. The market demands it, so we are doing it,” said George Mumford – president.

Located in Ninety Six, SC, Mumford has provided recycling and reprocessing for all types plastics from various industries and manufacturers since 1995. Phase 1 was completed earlier in 2019 with the installation of two additional shredders and the new equipment has increased Mumford’s shredding and grinding capability by 25,000lb per day.

Growth in processing capacity provides an opportunity to not only recover more industrial plastics destined for the landfilled but also destruction for items that are nonrecyclable. More material means more personnel and Mumford looks forward to adding new people to their team.
