MUSC Children’s Health Pediatric Trauma Program honors exceptional DCEMS teams for outstanding service and dedication

Recognizing Deputy EMS Director Joe Crowder and Training Officer Josh Arrant
Joe Crowder and Josh Arrant were recognized for spearheading collaboration efforts between MUSC and DCEMS. Their work has ensured the effective use of the bike rodeo trailer by various community service agencies. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, this collaboration has enabled broader community outreach and injury prevention efforts. Their relentless efforts have significantly advanced the MUSC mission to save lives and reduce injuries in our community.
Honoring Advanced EMT Eddie Rivera, EMT Jeffrey Phipps, Paramedic Shift Supervisor Scott Chisholm, Paramedic Crew Chief Marco Simard, Paramedic Crew Chief Angelina Johnson, & EMT Jason Bell
DCEMS crew members Eddie Rivera, Jeffrey Phipps, Scott Chisholm, Marco Simard, Angelina Johnson, and Jason Bell were recognized for their exceptional response during a major vehicle collision involving multiple pediatric patients. Their ability to triage, assess, and deliver emergent care under intense pressure ensured that the highest quality of care was provided to all involved. Their commitment and expertise are commendable, and their efforts are a testament to the exceptional service provided by DCEMS.
Commendation for Emergency Medical Technician John Gunter and Paramedic Crew Chief Jennifer Dargis
John Gunter and Jennifer Dargis were also recognized for their prompt response to a critical incident involving a child struck by a motor vehicle. The team’s swift actions and expert medical care were instrumental in stabilizing the critically injured patient, who suffered multiple severe injuries. Their dedication and skillful intervention played a crucial role in the child’s recovery.
