Museum Newsroom: Meet Santa and ride the SCSM N. Pole Express Train

Tasting Tuesday, Dec. 18
The State Museum is open late until 8 p.m. Tuesday night for holiday shopping, South Carolina food product tastings, and samples of local beer in the Cotton Mill Exchange during Tasting Tuesdays.

Live Music:
Blue Grass Jam Session: Guests are invited to bring their stringed instruments and jam with the SC Blue Grass and Traditional Music Association.
Guests can also get in the holiday spirit with The Polar Express 4D Experience playing at 5:30 and 6:30 in the Rev. Solomon Jackson Jr. 4D Theater, Star of Bethlehem and Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas Laser, now playing in the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Winter Break Camps Start Thursday, Dec. 20
The State Museum is excited to offer camps during Winter Break for children aged 6 – 12 years old. Each day will focus on a different subject matter and even includes a special Polar Express Day! Campers can customize their schedule. Every camp day features: morning social time with other campers, museum exploration time, hands-on and interactive activities, snack time and lunch time. Winter Fest Kicks Off Thursday, Dec. 20
Winter Fest, sponsored by Cool Care Heating and Air, is the museum’s annual holiday celebration packed with holiday fun for the whole family, Dec. 20 through Jan. 6. Enjoy Holidays Around the World, an exclusive Nutcracker performance, visits with Santa and a chance to ride the new SCSM North Pole Express. Guests of all ages will experience the joy of the holiday season at the museum.
Meet Santa and Ride the SCSM North Pole Express, Dec. 21 – Dec. 23
In addition to these exciting Winter Fest events, Santa will visit the State Museum, Friday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 23 for an opportunity for families to meet and get their photo taken with him. Guests that purchase a photo with Santa will get a free ride on the SCSM North Pole Express. Prices for train rides without a photo are $3 for general public and $2 for museum members. There is no charge for guests to meet Santa.
