Myrtle Beach to Host SC Wetlands & Water Law Update Seminar

March 31, 2010

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – March 31, 2010 – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has been chosen as the host site for the South Carolina Wetlands & Water Law Update Conference to be held April 15 & 16 at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.

Sponsored by the Horry County Bar Association, the two-day conference is expected to attract a wide range of attendees including developers, planners, engineers, government officials, industrial development experts, environmental representatives and real estate associates, as well as attorneys, from throughout the State.

Myrtle Beach was chosen because of the coastal region’s rapidly developing area which continues to attract business and industry from all over the world.

“Integrally related to development are the plethora of Federal and State laws that pertain to wetland identification, permitting and protection, said Jill W. Fennel, Esquire, an attorney with Thompson & Henry, P.A., and President of the Horry County Bar Association.  “Within the last ten years alone, the laws have changed significantly, dramatically affecting the economy and becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend,” she said.

“To continue to manage effectively in this dynamic environmental realm, the Horry County Bar Association decided to host a conference that would include experts for the very agencies charged with implementing and enforcing these laws,” Fennel continued.

Speakers include representatives from

•The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
•The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
•The Natural Resources Conversations Services
•The U.S. Department of Justice
•The South Carolina Department of Health & Environment Control, Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management

Additionally, attorneys, engineers and consultants from the private sector will share their insight and expertise.

The conference is open to all who are interested. Complete information and registration information may be found online at www.HorryCountyBar.org
