Mystery Mic Showcase brings masked singer fundraiser to Winyah Auditorium
March 30, 2026Music and mystery will take center stage at the Winyah Auditorium on May 1 with the Mystery Mic Showcase, a fundraising event benefiting the historic venue and local scholarship and community programs.
Hosted by Winyah Auditorium and Team 12 of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Mu Phi Omega Chapter, the event features a “masked singer”‑style competition in which performers take the stage in costume and conceal their identities. Audience members will vote for their favorite acts throughout the evening.
According to Leona “Joy” Bonds, an Alpha Kappa Alpha alumna and event coordinator, the showcase is designed to build excitement by gradually revealing the contestants ahead of the performance. Eight performers are scheduled to compete. Contestants announced so far include Piggalicious, representing Georgetown Kraft Credit Union, and Ballerina Beats, a hip‑hop‑themed hippo from Waccamaw Middle School.
Awards will be presented in two categories: People’s Choice, determined by audience vote, and Judge’s Choice, selected by a panel of three judges. Randy Gamble has been announced as one of the judges, with the remaining two to be revealed closer to the event date.
Al Joseph, the City of Georgetown’s Main Street director, will serve as emcee.
Admission is $30 per person. Tickets are available online at thewinyah.org.
Proceeds from the event will support the Winyah Auditorium and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Debutante Scholarship Program, which funds scholarships and community initiatives, including weekend food backpacks for local students and academic awards.
