July 24, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC – July 24, 2013 – Carolina Event Consultants’ president Nancye Bailey has joined the Board of Directors for Youth Corps, a leadership program for outstanding ninth and tenth graders from Midlands’ schools.

The board of directors works together to support Youth Corps in its mission to provide a one-year course of practical, hands-on, on-site study and experience for that offers opportunities and exposure to relevant professional competencies, community service and leadership skills.  Youth Corps is based on the conviction that high school young people need to be educated and equipped for decision-making positions in the Midlands’ public, private, and independent sectors building a unified body of young people prepared for future involvement in community leadership. The Youth Corps Selection Committee selects 40 student applicants who show promise of leadership abilities. Applicants to the program must obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, business or community leader and take part in an interview with board members.

Bailey founded Carolina Event Consultants, a full-service meeting and event planning firm, which provides professional planning and management services to corporations, non-profits and individuals.  She is also a regular guest lecturer at the University of South Carolina on event planning and public relations and co-author of a textbook chapter regarding green meetings.

I am thrilled to have been asked to serve on the Youth Corps board, said Bailey.  Having been a part of this fantastic organization as a parent of a 2012 graduate I wanted to stay involved and help Jeff and the other leaders continue to provide a program for emerging young leaders in our community.

Bailey is one of 23 community and business leaders that serve on the board of directors.  For more information about Youth Corps visit www.youthcorps.net
