New Coffee Shop, Della Crema, to Open in Laurens

August 18, 2024

Coffee lovers in Laurens will soon have a new spot to enjoy their favorite brews and treats. Tim Davis, a familiar face in the local coffee scene, is set to open Della Crema, a new coffee shop located at 126 East Main Street, between Perfectly Imperfect/The Roseland and Limitless Laurens.

Davis, who was the former manager of Courthouse Coffee, has been passionate about the coffee business for the past six years. His journey began at The Coffee Roost, where he worked from 2018 until 2021, before moving on to manage Courthouse Coffee from its opening in May 2022 until it closed in June of this year.

“I’ve developed quite a passion for the coffee business over the last six years and knew I wanted to continue the moment I learned that Courthouse Coffee would be closing,” Davis shared. “On the final day we were open, my partner Brittany set up a GoFundMe page as a surprise to help with my goal to open my own shop. When the campaign met its initial goal overnight, I was in complete awe. It was a huge motivational kick in the rear! I knew I had to make this happen.”

Della Crema, named for the frothy layer on a properly extracted shot of espresso and a nod to Italian traditions, will offer carefully crafted coffee drinks, baked goods, and gelato. Davis plans to serve gelato not just for its deliciousness but also for its versatility, with offerings like affogato and coffee gelato shakes.

The shop’s aesthetic will be mid-century modern, providing a comfortable and relaxing space for customers. There will also be a dedicated children’s area for parents who want to keep their little ones occupied while they enjoy their coffee.

Davis, originally from Greenville but raised in Summerville, moved to Laurens for a fresh start after the closure of his father’s x-ray tube repair business following his passing. The transition from repairing x-ray tubes to owning a coffee shop may seem unusual, but for Davis, it’s about the personal connections and the creativity he can explore through new drink ideas and recipes.

Davis hopes to open Della Crema by the end of September but is more realistically aiming for a fall opening. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone who donated and offered support during this journey, stating, “I couldn’t have done it without them!”

With its unique offerings and inviting atmosphere, Della Crema is sure to become a favorite destination for coffee enthusiasts and families alike in Laurens.
