New community resource center to open adjacent to Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center

A ribbon-cutting event on August 23rd, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. will mark the inauguration of a new community resource center adjacent to the Kathryn M. Bellfield Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center. This center, located at 2611 Grant St., Columbia, is repurposing the former library to provide valuable space and amenities for local small businesses and non-profit organizations.

Equipped with essential features including conference rooms, office cubicles, and printers, the resource center aims to support around 10 local professionals on a rotating basis over the course of a year. Operating from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the center offers an accessible workspace environment to foster growth and collaboration.

The ribbon-cutting event will be attended by prominent city figures such as Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, District II Councilman Edward H. McDowell, and Booker Washington Heights Neighborhood Association President Regina Williams. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort to boost the local business community and nurture organizational development, signaling a promising step towards community progress.
