New European Style Bike Friendly Inn Opens In Downtown Greenville, SC

July 24, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – After its opening last month, Greenville local Wendy Lynam’s Swamp Rabbit Inn is already drawing both locals and visitors to Greenville’s historic West End. The Swamp Rabbit Inn is a small European style inn right in the heart of downtown Greenville SC . The inn is located on 1 Logan Street, and it has six guestrooms, a common kitchen and community gathering spaces indoors and out, furnished entirely with Ikea furniture for a fresh, funky design. This is not your grandmother’s B & B.

Two blocks from Main Street in downtown Greenville SC, and two blocks from the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 17+ mile paved bike trail, The Swamp Rabbit Inn is also within walking distance of Fluor Field, The Kroc Center, wedding venues, and many of Greenville’s shops and delicious restaurants. The Inn has a cozy and communal feel, all with the perks of comfy bedrooms, and inviting outdoor spaces. Many visitors have already booked the entire house for weddings, teams, girl’s weekends, corporate retreats and family gatherings.

Only open a month, the inn has already housed a group of cyclists for the “Cycle To Farm” tour and visitors, including a visit from Super Model Kiara Kabukaru, as well as a stay by Food Network’s “harshest critic” and Iron Chef judge, Simon Majumdar. “That was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on in a long time while traveling,” stated Majumdar. And with a flawless rating on TripAdvisor, many visitors have stated they will be coming back. One review called the Inn “a very special place indeed”, going on to describe the stay as “just magical”. “It’s a cyclist’s dream,” wrote another happy visitor.

As a project from local investor, Wendy Lynam, the Inn is very much a creation that embodies the essence of Greenville. “Cycling is a passion of mine and this is the place to do it on all levels,” says Lynam. “Greenville is a cosmopolitan Southern town and we want to help visitors make the most out of their stay.” Along with lodging, the inn has a Bike Shed outfitted with eight city bikes for rent, and offers ride-up maintenance for cyclists from bike mechanic and inn manager Robin Rouselle (aka R2).

The Inn is also adorned with paintings from muralist and cyclist Kathleen King , who was invited to the Upstate to bring public art to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Her first project, sponsored by the Daniel Mickel Foundation, is a mural titled “Tortoise Has a Spare” on the wall of TTR Bikes at the Swamp Rabbit Green.
