August 6, 2021
NEXT High School, in their constant pursuit of, and dedication to, a student-focused and innovative approach to education, has been working tirelessly to recruit the best talent. They are excited to announce the addition of three new educational specialists to their team of experts.
NEXT welcomes Dr. Karen Cleveland as the school’s Coordinator of Professional Learning and Academic Services. Dr. Cleveland has amassed 15 years of experience as a professional educator, and brings a wealth of expertise in curriculum design along with a genuine passion for serving others. In her new role, Dr. Cleveland will be responsible for coordinating school-wide academic programs, including faculty professional development and guidance programs. She will also provide curriculum and instructional support for faculty and staff.
As the Learning Improvement Coordinator on NEXT’s leadership team, Jarrod Moore will be working with faculty and staff to administer quality assessments to ensure student progress and assist educators in meeting students’ academic needs. A passionate and seasoned educator, he brings 13 years of professional experience in classroom, coaching, and administrative positions. Mr. Moore will also serve as the chief school interface of the MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) program. The MTSS framework is designed to address the needs of the whole student through a personalized learning system, including the focus areas of academics, behavior, social, and emotional.
Jordan Jacobssen, former Director of Curriculum and rising star within NEXT’s administration ranks, has been promoted to Interim Site Leader. Mrs. Jacobssen has been a professional educator for 13 years, 6 of which have been in both teaching and leadership roles at NEXT. Her familiarity with existing systems, students, staff, and families provides her with an immediate advantage to lead the campus successfully. She will now be responsible for directing the instructional team at NEXT High School in coordinating and improving the school’s learning program to the benefit of every student. Mrs. Jacobssen will also be working closely with faculty, parents, and students to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of all students and valuing the diversity of the population NEXT serves.
Dr. Stephanie Brown, newly minted CEO of NEXT, is confident that the addition of these new staff members will further strengthen NEXT’s already impressive and inclusive educational program. “I look forward to seeing the relationships each of these individuals will foster with our students, families, teachers, staff, and community. Together, we will continue inspiring excellence and leadership in our NEXT family.”
NEXT’s Board of Directors is thrilled with the direction Dr. Brown is taking in this new chapter of the school. Cate Tyson, NEXT High School Chairperson, remarked, “Building a strong leadership and administrative team is crucial in today’s education environment. The Board is excited about the team Dr. Brown is building to continue our upward trajectory and position the school for a high performing educational experience.”
