New Homes Group Spreads holiday cheer

December 13, 2017

On Friday, December 8th in the spirit of the Holiday Season, the Carolina One New Homes group reached out to a dear friend in need.

Will Jenkinson, the New Homes Broker-In-Charge, first met Amy Vogel 5 years ago when Amy was working for the East Bay Deli and they struck up a lasting friendship.  According to Will, “Amy is one of the most positive, good hearted people I know.”

Will has remained in touch with Amy over the years and last Christmas after Amy became unemployed, the Carolina One Real Estate Leadership team made a significant financial contribution to help her out.  After being unemployed for most of this year, Amy recently got a custodial job at West Ashley High School and her financial condition has improved slightly.

Amy’s home and her current living conditions are considerably less than ideal.  Amy lives in North Charleston in her mother’s home that was built in the 40s.  She moved in when her mom was ill and ended up staying after her mom passed.

About 5 years ago Will and the New Homes group reached out to Operation Home and they helped with some roof repairs and rebuilt the front porch.  To say that the home needs additional repairs is a gross understatement and the New Home’s short term goal was to help her clean up and clean out her house and they accomplished that mission last Friday. Will and the New Homes group’s long term goal for 2018 is to demolish this house and built Amy a new home.

Those folks who turned out last Friday to help with the clean-up included Lori Brant, Jason Ray, Robin Russell, Abby Carli, Amanda Ferrell, Will Jenkinson, Kris Kordonowy, Derrick Bane and Vito Scarafile.
