New Muller Road Middle School principal announced
May 26, 2023This summer a familiar face will return to Richland Two schools as principal at Muller Road Middle School. At the recommendation of Richland School District Two interim superintendent Mrs. Nancy Gregory, the Richland Two Board of Trustees voted Tuesday, May 23, 2023 to approve Dr. Brandon Ross as principal, effective July 1.
Dr. Brandon Ross, originally joined the Richland School District 2 family in 2014 as a career development facilitator at Westwood High School. He went on to serve as a school counselor at Spring Valley High School, an assistant administrator at Ridge View High School, and also as Assistant Principal at Ridge View High School. He currently serves as Principal at Newberry High School in the School District of Newberry County.
Interim Superintendent Nancy Gregory states “I am excited to welcome Dr. Ross back to the Richland Two family. His experience in our high schools and understanding of our student, staff and teacher needs will be an immediate asset for our Muller Road Middle School families.”
Dr. Ross says “I am truly honored to return to Richland School District Two to serve as the next principal of Muller Road Middle School. Muller Road Middle School has established a legacy of excellence and I look forward to further cementing that legacy as we strive to be the model for middle schools across our state and nationally. I look forward to establishing strong partnerships with our faculty and staff, our families, and the Richland Two community as we pursue excellence at Muller Road Middle School.”
Dr. Ross also has an extensive formal education background as he earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of South Carolina. He later earned a Masters of Education degree in Counselor Education from South Carolina State University and a second Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership from The University of South Carolina. Most recently, Dr. Ross earned his Doctorate of Education in Curriculum Studies from the University of South Carolina in 2022.
Dr. Ross succeeds Mr. Sean Bishton. Under Mr. Bishton’s leadership, Muller Road Middle School has been named a “South Carolina School To Watch” since 2020. Dr. Ross hopes to continue that momentum while making a positive difference in the lives of each student and family that he serves. He believes, “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” Dr. Ross will rejoin Richland Two on July 1st.
