Restaurant Kicks Off With Grand Opening Specials, Events Dec. 13

CHARLESTON, SC – December 9, 2011 – Charlestonians can add a newcomer to the local restaurant scene on their list of dining out options. Bighorn’s Sports Grill, celebrating its official grand opening Dec. 13 but already open to the public, combines affordable meals, patriotism and a love of sports all in a nonsmoking 12,000-square-foot space directly across from Sears at Northwoods Mall under the giant American flag.

Owned by South Carolina restauranteurs, Michael Varner & Phil Franklin, who run Chief’s Wings and Firewater in Spartanburg/Greenville, and Marc Merrill of Charleston, Bighorn’s Sports Grill, located at 7832 Rivers Avenue, does everything in a big way from its 50 TVs to its 50 menu items under $10 and its all-you-can-eat wings buffet on Tuesdays. Bighorn’s offers seating for up to 270, three bars and an indoor and outdoor patio, accommodating smoking patrons.  The restaurant strives to combine Southern sports grill excitement with Western steakhouse quality and value and holds as its motto “a love of God and Country, living large and eating large, and football.”

Patrons of Bighorn’s will find more than 110 menu options, including Buffalo wings, salads, steaks, burgers, seafood, chicken, ribs, BBQ and more. The restaurant is also family friendly with an extensive kids menu.

A staple of Bighorn’s is live music and a host of bands ranging from bluegrass and country to funk and rock will play throughout the month of December. Additionally, every day active and nonactive military personnel with ID receive an additional 10% off their purchase. Bighorn’s also offers multiple rooms for groups, businesses, clubs or teams to host get-togethers, as well as provides catering.

The restaurant will host its official Grand Opening Tuesday, Dec. 13 with a ribbon cutting by North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey. Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne Dewitt, Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon and State Senator Larry Grooms will also attend.

All day Dec. 13, customers can enjoy two-for-one, all-you-can-eat wings, half off entrée salads, $2 drafts, $2.50 Fireballs and other drink specials. Beginning at 6 p.m., 10% of all proceeds through the end of the evening will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life. At 8 p.m., Bighorn’s will host a wing-eating contest and crown as the winner the customer who can eat the most Buffalo wings.
