July 14, 2022

At the recommendation of Richland School District Two superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis, the Richland Two Board of Trustees voted Tuesday, July 12, 2022 to
approve Vincent L. McClinton as principal of Blythewood Academy.

“I was extremely proud to recommend Mr. McClinton, a long-serving employee of Richland Two, for this principalship. Since 2006, Mr. McClinton has shown a deep commitment to the district and our core values. I believe he will do a superb job in using those values as he takes on this new role at our district’s alternative school,” said Superintendent Davis.

Twenty-five years ago, McClinton began teaching U.S. History and economics at Eau Claire High School in Richland School District One. In 2001, he transitioned to Lee County Schools to become an assistant principal. He also served as an assistant principal at North Central Middle School in Kershaw County, and Kelly Mill Middle and Summit Parkway Middle schools in Richland Two.

McClinton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina.

He and his wife, Yasmin, have four children: Vincent II, Ethan, Ahmari and Wilson. Ahmari and Wilson attend a Richland Two high school. Vincent II and Ethan are recent graduates.

Blythewood Academy is located at 501 Main Street in Blythewood. It offers an alternative learning setting that provides students with a second chance in a supportive environment.
