New Principal for Center for Achievement Named

COLUMBIA, SC – At the Tuesday, July 29, 2014 board meeting, Superintendent Debbie Hamm recommended and the Richland School District Two Board of Trustees approved longtime Richland Two educator Sabina Mosso-Taylor to become the new principal at the Center for Achievement (CFA).
CFA offers a smaller environment for learning based on individual needs of each student. The program strives to give struggling students a sense of accomplishment and achievement rather than frustration and failure. The center is located on the Kelly Mill Middle School campus.
Mosso-Taylor began her teaching career in Tennessee and joined the Richland Two family as an early childhood special education teacher at then Anna Boyd Child Development Center in 1995. Since 2007, she has served as the Spears Creek Road Child Development and Montessori lead teacher. In addition, she is an adjunct instructor for the University of South Carolina (USC).
Mosso-Taylor has a Bachelor of Science in elementary education/special education from the University of Tennessee at Martin (1988), and a master’s and doctorate in early childhood education from the University of South Carolina. She achieved National Board Certification in 2002 and was recertified in 2012. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the national Scholastic Early Childhood Professional Award in 2005, a Dole ‘5 A Day’ Teacher of the Year in 1999 and Anna Boyd Child Development Center Teacher of the Year in 1998.
