June 10, 2020

Longleaf Middle School will soon welcome a new principal. Starting July 1, 2020, Teresa Price Boyd will take over as principal of Longleaf. At a board meeting Tuesday, June 9, 2020, Superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis recommended and the Richland School District Two Board of Trustees approved the selection of Boyd.

“Ms. Boyd is a beloved administrator at Longleaf who has an extensive record of doing what’s right for students and their families. Her involvement in the Richland Two Assistant Principals academy, AVID implementation, behavior education and other professional development activities has honed her skills to meet the challenges of this position,” said Dr. Davis.

Boyd will replace the current principal, Robert Jackson who is leaving to assume the principalship at Westwood High School. Boyd currently serves as an assistant principal at Longleaf and has also served in that capacity at Muller Road Middle and Blythewood Middle in Richland Two.

“Being a part of the leadership team at Longleaf and other schools has prepared me for this new role. I am very knowledgeable about the students, parents, employees, school culture, and climate at Longleaf. I will continue to support teaching and learning here as we continue to create and sustain an environment where all students thrive. I invite the Longleaf family to continue to work collaboratively as we move with purpose to provide each of our students the very best education possible,” said Boyd.

Boyd began her educational career in Rock Hill, South Carolina as a mathematics teacher at both Sullivan Middle School and Northwestern High School. She has experience at various middle and high schools as a math teacher, guidance counselor and dean of students. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and Master of Education in guidance and counseling from Winthrop University; and a Master of Education and Educational Specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina.

Boyd is the proud mother of one son, Isaiah Boyd III, a graduate of Richland Two and has a new daughter-in-law, Jennifer.
