The 53,000-square-foot movie theater will be a part of the 40-acre retail development called RedStone, which is being developed by MPV Properties, also of Charlotte, at the S.C. Highway 160 intersection.
Herman Stone, CEO of Stone Theatres, says the theater is much needed in northern Lancaster County.
“We expect to build a beautiful show palace for the community, a place you will be proud to see a movie at,” he says. The theater complex will total 2,800 seats and feature wall-to-wall screens.
Stone Theatres also operates the Sun Valley 14 in Indian Trail as well as three other locations in the Carolinas.
The Lancaster County Planning Commission approved the RedStone development last month.
Construction will begin any day, says Mike Bilodeau, development manager at MPV Properties.
“We expect to attract a number of national, regional and local retailers to this project,” Bilodeau says.
MPV Properties has developed 521 Corporate Center, Bailes Ridge industrial park and Six Mile Commons commercial center, all in Indian Land.
