Nickelodeon Theatre Names New Members to Board of Directors

COLUMBIA, SC – October 15, 2013 – The Nickelodeon Theatre, South Carolina’s only non-profit art house theater and a leading voice for media arts, has elected new members to its Board of Directors. These members will serve three-year terms.

  • Herbert Ames– Ames serves as a Development Manager for EDENS, one of the nation’s leading retail real estate owners and development companies. He has more than nine years experience in real estate development and has managed the development and redevelopment of properties throughout the Southeast. Herbert also serves on the board for City Center Partnership and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
  • John P. Boyd– Boyd is a shareholder at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd. His practice includes work on one of the largest CERCLA (Superfund) projects in the United States, advising small start-up entities in the renewable energy sector, general regulatory and administrative work and providing advice and counsel to South Carolina public service districts, municipalities and counties on a wide array of matters.
  • Amos Disasa– Disasa is the pastor of Downtown Church. He serves on the Board of Directors for Transitions, The Columbia Development Corporation and The River Alliance. He is a contributing writer for The Presbyterian Outlook and serves on the Board of Trustees for Louisville Seminary.
  • April Kelly– Kelly is a supervisor of Environmental, Safety and Chemistry at SCE&G. She is a member of the Young Leaders Society for the United Way and is also a member of the Women’s Leadership Group for SCANA. Kelly was selected to participate in Women’s Leadership for the New South, Columbia College (2012) and the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce selected her to participate in Leadership Columbia Class of 2013-2014. She also serves on the Columbia City Ballet’s board of directors.
  • Duncan S. McIntosh – McIntosh is Vice President and General Counsel at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. He a member of the executive committee for the SC Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and serves on the Board of Trustees at the Columbia Museum of Art where he previously served as board president from 2010-12.
  • Anne Postic – Also known as The Shop Tart, is a writer and blogger. She currently writes for The Shop Tart, Fig Columbia and is a regular contributor to The Kitchn. Anne is serving her second consecutive term on the Nickelodeon’s board.
  • Walton Selig– Selig is an artist living in Columbia, S.C. In addition to raising three children, Walton has spent over 30 years in the hospitality industry. She has worked with restaurants designing menus, cooking, baking and opening her own business. She and her husband, Jeff, are longtime members of the Nickelodeon Theatre.
  • Elizabeth Reardon– Reardon is the Downtown Program & Event Planning Manger at First Citizens Bank. Elizabeth is also an avid blogger and event planner.

“As we’re looking ahead at exciting new developments, including the renovation of our second-floor theater and the implementation of our strategic plan we’ve developed with the help of the Kennedy Center’s DeVos Institute of Arts Management, these board members are deeply tied to the community and have talents that will greatly benefit the Nickelodeon Theatre,” said Andy Smith, Executive Director of the Nickelodeon Theatre.

These members join current Nickelodeon Theatre Board of Directors members Tracy Jones, Bob Mason, Wendi Nance, Lynn Stokes-Murray, Lemuel Watson, Chris Controne, James E Smith, Jr. and Sam Johnson.
