NMB Chamber’s First Friday Business Builder Event
February 24, 2016Focuses on the importance of infrastructure improvements to Horry County’s economic future
The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce announces Eddie Dyer as its featured speaker for its March First Friday Business Builder event. This month’s breakfast will be held on March 4 from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m.at the Conference Center at Barefoot Resort (2250 Premier Resorts Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, S.C.).
Dyer currently serves as the chair of the Horry County Sales Tax Commission and he will be speaking on the commission’s present ballot question for the penny sales tax to provide funding for road improvements in the county. Prior to accepting his appointment as the chair of the Horry County Sales Tax Commission, Dyer was the chair for the county’s Ride III Committee. He had previously served on the Horry County Planning Commission until 2014.
Dyer spent nearly 40 years as a member of the political science faculty at Coastal Carolina University where he also served in a variety of administrative positions. He served eight years as executive vice president and chief operating officer at the institution and was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award. He was also the first recipient of the HTC Teacher-Scholar Award and the university named the Institute for Leadership and Public Policy in his honor in 2014. Dyer was designated Distinguished Professor Emeritus upon his retirement.

The First Friday Business Builder is an informative monthly breakfast meeting held on the first Friday of every month by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. The event is available to chamber members and non-members as an opportunity to hear valuable speakers on important topics, updates on city and council issues, and new business opportunities.
Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for non-members, and can be purchased on the Chamber’s website. The meetings are presented by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
