Nominations Requested for Inaugural Women of Distinction Event
May 18, 2015GREENVILLE, SC – The Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands has announced it is accepting nominations from the public for its inaugural Women of Distinction recognition and fund-raising event. While Girl Scouts has been hosting this event in South Carolina for over 20 years, this will be the council’s first year recognizing honorees from Greenville County.
Girl Scouts is now calling upon the Greenville community to help identify women who exemplify excellence, both through their professional achievements, as well as their civic engagement. Nominees must work and/or reside within Greenville County, but do not have to be a former Girl Scout. Once all nominations are submitted, no later than July 15, a volunteer panel will review each nomination and make selections based on the following criteria: professional/community leadership, professional/community service, community visibility, and being a strong role model for girls. Names are removed before nominations are sent to the selection committee to make the process as non-biased as possible.
Appointed as Chair for the event is Kimbrelly Kegler and Co-chair is Magaly Penn.

Kimbrelly Kegler is Founder, MyMechanicApp.com at the Michelin Project Incubator Office. She has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law; and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. In addition to pursuing her own entrepreneurial ventures, Kim enjoys cycling and training for endurance races. She is active in the Greenville County United Way and is an Elder and Young Adult Leader at the Spartanburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. Kimbrelly is serving her first term on the Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands Board of Directors and is a member of its Governance Committee.
Magaly Penn is a retired Diversity Consultant for BI-LO, LLC. She has a degree in Business from Grace Downs Technical College. She currently serves on the boards of the Community Foundation in Greenville and Greenville Technical College Diversity Advisory Board, and is a Commissioner for South Carolina Consumer Affairs. Magaly has previously served as a board member for Phillis Wheatley and YWCA. She is also a member of the Greenville Professional Women’s Forum. Magaly is currently serving her second term on the Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands Board of Directors and is a member of the Human Resources, Development and Nominating committees.

The Women of Distinction event will be held on September 10, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) in Greenville.
