Kim Pitman, Executive Director, The Greenville Humane Society
The mission of the Greenville Humane Society is to preserve the lives and enhance the well-being of animals. They are an organization that has grown from a 1M a year budget to now over $4M, yet they do not receive any government funding. They operate solely on donations and sponsorships.
Of course, the Greenville Humane Society is a great place to adopt a pet. But with their new Medical Center and Healing Place, they also offer a range of affordable services for community pets. They are one of the largest low-cost spay/neuter clinics in South Carolina and in 2018, they delivered over 53,000 vaccinations.
The Greenville Humane Society has the honor of receiving Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating and perfect score for five consecutive years. The non-profit is hosting the 8th Annual Mutt Strut on Saturday, April 27, and this is the first year where participants will enjoy walking and running down Main Street.
