North Charleston Elementary School will learn the importance of Financial Literacy, Work Readiness, and Entrepreneurship during JA in a Day

May 24, 2017

North Charleston Elementary School in Charleston County will complete an entire Junior Achievement program tomorrow (May 25th) for all students in K-5th grade; a feat that ordinarily would require five classes. The 450+ students will do this through Junior Achievement’s “JA in a Day”, made possible through a grant funded by The InterTech Group Foundation in North Charleston.

Junior Achievement Programs take business men and women volunteers into the classroom to teach life skills of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. For students in kindergarten through fifth-grade, the elementary school programs teach students the basic concepts of business and economics.  By reinforcing concepts and confidence, students use their creativity and critical thinking skills to explore various aspects of business through activities that reinforce economic concepts taught in social studies, career, and life skills electives.

“It is important to teach students today the importance of their financial impact on their community. We are grateful that with support from The InterTech Group Foundation, we are able to bring JA to all 26 classrooms to teach students these life changing skills, which will help them, succeed in the global economy.” – Casey Pash, President and CEO
