Notice of temporary road closure of Steeple Ridge Road beginning October 9

October 6, 2016
The Richland County Transportation Penny Program has issued a notice of temporary road closure for Steeple Ridge Road at Kennerly Road to begin on October 9 and end in approximately 30 days. The closure is necessary to continue the construction of a new traffic circle at the intersection of Kennerly, Coogler and Steeple Ridge Roads in Northwest Richland County. While this section of Steeple Ridge Road is closed, the Ascot Subdivision should be accessed via Laurent Way at Kennerly Road or Steeple Ridge Road at Hollingshed Road.
The intersection project at Kennerly, Coogler and Steeple Ridge Roads is the fourth of six intersection improvements to begin this year under a contract awarded via the Richland County Transportation Penny Program to C.R. Jackson Construction Company, a Columbia owned construction contractor. Construction began on September 15 and should be substantially completed by March of next year. The existing intersection will be reconstructed into a traffic circle which will significantly improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.
All motorists traveling through the construction area are asked to be aware of the crews, equipment and potential traffic delays during the construction. Motorists are also asked to pay attention to traffic control signs, reductions in the speed limit and the message display board information. Alternative routes are recommended, where possible. Please note that all road work is dependent on the weather conditions.
The contractor, C.R. Jackson, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance of the intersection for the duration of the project.  Please contact Elizabeth Jackson at (803) 750-6070 or Email: [email protected] for any questions or further construction related information.  Project updates are provided monthly on the Richland Penny website at: http://www.richlandpenny.com/budget-info/reports/
