NWS meteorologist to get weather on the radar of Midlands youth

September 24, 2019

From choosing an outfit first thing in the morning to deciding whether or not to play inside the house or outside in the backyard, weather plays an important role in our daily lives. Richland Library wants to introduce children and teens to different aspects of weather, including forecasting, and connect them directly with a meteorologist in our community.

Our staff are excited to welcome Rachel Cobb from the National Weather Service (NWS) – Columbia, SC for two programs on Saturday, September 28 at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street). Please join us for:

Meet a Meteorologist Storytime
10:30 – 11:15 a.m.
Children and their families can hear stories and learn about the weather impacting us locally and statewide.

Career Spotlight: Meet a Meteorologist
3 – 4:30 p.m.
What does it take to become a meteorologist? Teens can take a closer look at the field of meteorology while exploring climate and weather phenomena.

Both programs are free and open to the public.

This partnership highlights Richland Library’s work with the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador.
