Officer Vigilance Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicle in Clinton

January 21, 2026

An alert and routine check by officers with the Clinton Police Department led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and an arrest on Tuesday.

According to the Clinton Police Department, officers were conducting a welfare check on an individual who was sleeping inside a vehicle at a local convenience store when they observed circumstances that prompted further investigation. During that investigation, officers confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Tennessee.

The suspect was taken into custody, and narcotics paraphernalia was also discovered inside the vehicle.

“This is a great example of how our officers’ attention to detail and commitment to proactive policing make a real difference,” said Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison. “What began as a routine welfare check resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the removal of illegal activity from our community.”

Chief Addison added that incidents like this underscore the importance of officers remaining alert during everyday calls for service.

The Clinton Police Department commended the officers involved for their professionalism and continued dedication to keeping the Clinton community safe.
